“ABC, EASY AS ONE TWO THREE, OR SIMPLE AS DO RE MI, ABC 123 BABY YOU AND ME GIRRRRRL!!!” sings at the top of her lungs. *clears throat*Yeshhh we are all beautiful singers, until we step out of the shower hahah! The shower does have great acoustics, but I am not here to talk about your showers and how nice they make you sound. I’m here today to talk about music and learning…at the SAME TIME~!! I’ll be talking about how music effects emotions and shows personality!
Alrighty then! Here we goo!!
…hmmm well music! You can really learn a lot from yourself with the music you listen to, when you listen to it and why you chose it. For example, If you trying to pump yourself up, you tend to listen to up beat and fast dance music. Maybe, pop music, R&B, rock, alternative, scream o, and other fast moving, energetic genres. Its said we
” Without even thinking about it, we use music to create desired moods– to make us happy, to enjoy movement and dance, to energize, to bring back powerful memories, to help us relax and focus. Music is a powerful tool for our personal expression within our daily lives– it helps “set the scene” for many important experiences”- Chris Boyd Brewer.
I experienced what Chris Brewer says about using fast moving songs to get pumped at 2 of the Sweet 16′s I was sooo happy to be invited to. When my favorite song was on i was on the dance floor all over the place, my adrenaline pumping, sweat falling from my brow, and dancing in ways I never knew I could do. Even if I was unbelievably tired and just wanted to keel over, the music made my blood pump and my body move. However, the exact opposite happened when a song I did not like came on or a song I have never heard of just comes on the speakers.
As a teenager in my eyes i hate it!!! You are dancing your heart out to a great song, and then the song either cuts off or goes to a slower song. It kills your momentum, and slows you adrenaline. The reason people work out with fast music is to get moving and working.
No teenager, at a dance party, wants to listen to Reggae, Smooth Jazz, or very sloooooooow musiiiiccccc. We want to crunk and jerk (dancing moves if you did not know =))!! Teenagers want to get their “freak on” to Ray-J, Beyonce, Boys Like Girls, Jesse McCartney, LMAFO, Cobra Starship, Jay-Z and many more artist with fast music that can can move us the right way. Also, when we go to dance at a birthday party, I despise it when the DJ or Band thinks they are soo cool and play the lamest songs and cant understand why no one is dancing. It is basically like they need a nice firm slap in the face!!
Hahaha, if you have not noticed I really love my music! To me music is a legacy. A non-stopping legacy of rhythm and harmony which repeats its self through out history among the youth and children. Yet, What i have noticed is that every generation after another hates the kind of music that comes after! An example my grandparents and parents and understand the lyrics or like the graphic music videos used. Haha it just proves it is very hard to please everyone. However, just like teenagers now our parents and grandparents were teens in another life, they know what it means to be young and misunderstood with musical freedom.
So, next time you are listening to your favorite song or a song you do not really enjoy, let these questions plague your mind:
-what influences you on a daily basis to listen to music??
-Are you bored or do u just love music?
-What kinda of music do you listen to and why?
Then, in the end after all the questions u answered think about a situation you are usually in and think about your own theme music.
Alright goooood night and gooood day =)
